Filmmaker, Writer and Counseling - Gestalt Therapist

Marcel Barragan integrates storytelling with social impact.
In every project he leads, he develops initiatives that support individuals or communities connected to the film’s theme—whether through visibility, resources, or collaborative programs. His work consistently uplifts groups such as older adults, children and youth with physical or cognitive disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and women affected by domestic violence.
This approach not only defines his creative philosophy, but also sets him apart from traditional filmmakers: each production becomes a vehicle for real‑world support and meaningful public contribution.
For investors, Marcel’s model offers a differentiated opportunity: participating in films that combine creative excellence with measurable social benefit, community engagement, and long‑term brand value.

*REDEMPTION: Relapse* is a psychological drama rooted in the universe of the original 2015 Latin American film *Redención*, which was acclaimed as "Best New Cinema 2016" upon its release. Written, directed by, and starring Marcel Barragan, this new film was produced in Portland, Oregon. It approaches the story with greater emotional depth, a refined visual style, and a more mature psychological perspective.

The film follows Loreto, a man with a brilliant mind and a fractured past who, after years of apparent stability, begins to unravel during a course of psychotherapy that forces him to confront the shadows he thought he had left behind.

The 2023 film "Life REBORN"—directed, written, and produced by, and starring, Marcel Barragán Araya—has garnered 57 international awards to date. It has won 24 awards across the United States (California—Los Angeles—Texas, Florida, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Kentucky), Panama, Mexico, Uruguay, India, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Spain, Italy, Romania, and Portugal. Notable wins include: Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Writer, Best Director, Best Performances, Best Original Concept, Best Original Score, Best Human-Interest Content, Best Children's Programming, Best Narrative Film, and more…

My books, available in both English and Spanish, are born from the same place as my films: that point where pain, beauty, and the need to understand the human soul meet. Each story begins as a script—written for the screen—and then becomes a book that people can hold, read, and return to whenever they need it. These stories are fragments of lives, worlds, and emotional truths. They explore depth, connection, identity, and the shadows that shape us. Each book is a doorway where storytelling becomes a form of healing, connection, and transformation. These books are also part of the “Books for Food” Program, created to support people with diverse needs.
